Want to get into the lucrative field of automotive locksmithing? Most automotive classes teach about transponder technologies, but what about making that mechanical first key, or making a key to an older vehicle? If you want to learn these skills then this is the class for you!
This class will teach you the basics in automotive key origination. We will go over what reference material to use, and how to use it. We will also cover automotive tools that will read the locks without disassembling the door panels. We will cover how to tear down the old GM columns to make the ignition key. There will plenty of hands on so that you can get the feel for the tools and equipment.
There will be lots more information on making keys to both older and newer cars so that you can feel confident in taking those automotive calls rather than sending them to your competitor. As an added bonus, we will have Paul Kline give a demonstration on the Lishi tools.
A GPLA certificate suitable for framing will be awarded to each student.
About the instructor: John Paul Williams has been in the locksmithing industry for over 17 years. He started working with Neff's Safe Lock and Security for over 10 years where they not only did commercial and residential but specialized in automotive locksmithing. While working there, he traveled all over the US selling automotive locksmithing tools. The last few years before he left to start his own business, he answered the free Tech support lines, helping many other locksmiths with their automotive questions. Now, as the independent company-owner of Answered Prayer Locksmithing, he is primarily a dedicated automotive locksmith.
